Liam is a clarinettist and multi-instrumentalist who began the study of Piano and reached grade 8 at a very young age. He became a Chorister at the age of 8 and took up Clarinet during this time. He is presently in his final year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he is studying with Andrew Marriner and Andrew Webster. Liam also started the Saxophone as a young teenager.
As an orchestral player, he is principal clarinettist of the YMSO and ULSO, and second to James Meldrum in the Dorset Opera Festival Orchestra. He is on the extras list for the New European Ensemble and also performs regularly with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra as well as having performed at Downing Street, the Royal Treasury and for BBC radio 3’s ‘Total Emersion’. He has been privileged enough to play in masterclasses with Anthony McGill, Reiner Wehle, Chris Richards, Valerii Altukhov and working with members of the LSO, recording at Angel Studios.
Liam has been teaching for five year in various venues around London, four of which at “A to G”, giving masterclasses and coaching both soloist and chamber groups. His educational work has taken him as far as South Africa, where his wind quintet was guest artists at the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival. Liam really enjoys working with his students to achieve whatever their goal may be!
