Nicholas, BMus

Piano & Keyboard

Nicholas started playing the piano aged 5. He showed an immediate enthusiasm for the instrument, not only as a performer, but also as an improviser and a composer. He achieved ABRSM grade 8 whilst at school, and then went on to study Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, graduating in 2010 and receiving the TCM Trust’s Silver Medal for Composition Studies.

Since then Nicholas has been teaching piano to students of a variety of ages and abilities, as well as running music workshops for pre-school age children and babies. Nicholas has continued to followed his passion for composition and he is currently writing music for TV and radio, and has recently had some of his music featured on BBC2, and BBC Radio 4. He has a truly eclectic appreciation for a variety of styles of music, from classical and jazz to rock/pop and electronic music. His life as a performer reflects this as a keen improviser, as well as regularly playing keyboard and guitar in his own pop projects.

In his lessons, he always tries to find an angle which suits each student’s individual interests and he has developed an approach that encourages a deep understanding and appreciation of the building blocks of music. Whether your interests lie in classical, jazz or other styles, Nicholas will support your learning, and share his passion for music.”
