Tina is a vocal coach who believes that singing is an equal combination of technique, breathing and confidence - and the latter is often the hardest part!
Tina, who has a Bachelor of Arts degree, started singing from a young age. She trained at Platform One College of Music for two years, where she specialised in vocals. Here, she achieved her Grade 8 for vocals with Rockschool, a syllabus that she now herself teaches.
She continued her training with countless work experience placements alongside other coaches, before becoming the only Vocal Coach at a popular theatre school in the South.
While she has worked with acts such as Robbie Boyd (who recently performed on This Morning), Tina teaches singers of all abilities. Popular with children and adults alike, she will help you to learn how to find your best singing voice through power, breathing, diaphragm skill, and most importantly, confidence. Whether you wish to learn to sightread, sing by ear, take a grade or prepare for an audition, she welcomes you to say hello and begin the journey together.
"I'm probably Tina's oldest student at 66years. Have always enjoyed singing and doing the odd karaoke session but promised myself when I had more time I would learn to sing properly (helps with the breathing too). I look forward to my sessions and come out of the lesson feeling relaxed and confident that I have learnt a bit more each session. Tina is always cheerful upbeat and ready to boost confidence. I have recommended her to everyone I meet and hope the A to G Music School goes from strength to strengh!" - Kevin (adult student)
"I thought I would only have four lessons to give me a little confidence but I enjoy the lessons and have learnt so much and improved so much that, over a year later, I am still having lessons. With Tina I have progressed to learning to read music and I have grown in confidence with my singing and I now sing in an a cappella choir.
Lesson with Tina are fun, she changes them slightly from week to week so there is no chance to get bored. Because I want to learn more about music, we spend some time learning more about the notes and the way they are written. I usually sing a song of my choosing, with Tina providing corrections and pointers to improve my renditions. I can recommend Tina as a fun, thoughtful, enthusiastic and efficient teacher." - Kathleen (adult student)
"I came to Tina a few months ago lacking confidence in Perfoming and vocal ability. In a short time she has built me up these areas brilliantly and has prepared me for my wedding day to sing to my wife. I am still learning and continue to do so enjoying the lessons and her fun approach to something that's a big part of my life. I would recommend her to all ages as she has a great knowledge of music and let's you be free to develop songs that you love. I shall continue to have lessons with her even after my wedding as I enjoy the time spent with her and at the music school." - Simon (adult student)
"Tina is a brilliant tutor who has really helped me to improve all aspects of my singing. She is encouraging, motivational and has given me confidence, which is vital as a singer, to perform to the best of my abilities when singing at live gigs. Thanks to her I fully understand the importance of correct breathing technique, vowel placements and music theory, which have all enabled me to further my skills greatly as a vocalist. I would highly recommend Tina as her enthusiasm and upbeat nature never fail to make my singing lessons fun and exciting. You rock!" - Charliy (teenage student)
"Overall we find A to G a very friendly, welcoming place. They encourage musicians of all abilities and it has been so satisfying to see progress being made. Tina is so enthusiastic, and this really motivates my daughters. They always enjoy their lessons and look forward to attending!" - Lesley D. (parent)
